Don't Think be Happy

It might be better not to watch or read all the wonderful alternative news that is available online. Today, I was watching the live news stream at 'Democracy Now' and there was Amy Goodman talking to a Darlene Wallach, who was speaking from an Israeli prison near Tel Aviv where she had been taken after the Israeli navy impounded a fishing boat that she was on. The action by the Israelis is, of course, illegal, this is a Palestinian boat in Palestinian waters, near the coast of Gaza , and not to forget the fact that the fishermen, if it were not for the fact that foreigners were on board their ships, would possibly have been killed in the process of trying to eek out a living for their families. The evidence would appear to suggest that the Israelis understanding of a blockade is not only making sure nothing gets in but, indeed, that nothing gets out of the sea or, indeed, the land as Israeli bulldozers are also flattening agricultural land so that it cannot produce anything.(1)
The United Nations has told them that their blockade is illegal, they have been told that food supplies are running out and that there is a shortage of electricity, they have been told that men women and children are suffering and what do we hear from Israel? Well, Hamas has to stop terrorising Israeli citizens; a reference to the fact that a few quite useless missiles have landed on Israeli soil only after the Israelis continued to ignore the terms of the truce, which in fact they did from day one. Their lies are spouted out by a mainstream media, which helps disguise the fact that we do not have a real conflict here but a crime and if we want the true story, well we have to turn to the alternative media. However, that might involve us thinking a bit and we don't want to do that now, do we? No, it is so much easier to take in the daily trite, the disgusting shite and if any real news does slip through and get you a little bit depressed then just reach out for the remote control and low and behold it's, ...... Don't think, be happy!
