As I have been back in Fürstenfeldbruck for some six or seven weeks, some of you might be wondering why I have written very little about my time here. Well, to be honest there isn't really very much to write about. The news appears to take place elsewhere and one realises that here will be here when I go away and come back again. At the moment I have no or very few commitments, it is all very laid back and a great place to be if you are young or old. Unfortunately I am neither and, while I won't be climbing the mountains that surround me and I won't be training for a marathon on the very excellent running terrain that can be found all over the place and I won't be sitting and supping the marvelous beer and enjoying the wonderful nightlife that Munich offers and I won't be using all the excellent sports facilities that are dotted all over the place, I am also not quite ready for an old man's life and that ardent thirst for distant scenes is beginning to appear.
The problem is the extent to which we want to get involved and the more I read the more I feel myself getting sucked into proplems out there somewhere, or at least sucked in to the extent where I want to go a little bit deeper and when i go a little bit deeper I start to think, perhaps, I should try to get back to the Lebanon, perhaps that job in the Arab American University in Jenin, perhaps, and I get interview the Palestinians, argue at the checkpoints with Israeli soldiers ..... and then I think, is this really what you want?
There isn't much about Fürstenfeldbruck appearing in the blog and that is because, well, it is because when things are more or less "hunky-dory", and they are, there isn't a lot to write about. Any information you want can be accessed quickly, the air is clean, the countryside is beautiful, the food and drink is excellent, the location is splendid and yet ..... On the other hand, maybe I should just buy myself a fishing rod like the man in the video.
The video was shot today, while I was walking through the little forest beside my house.
