The World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance

Well, just imagine the scenario, it's seventy years ago and the planet decides to have an anti-fascist conference and Adolf goes into a huff and decides that Germany is not going because it is going to be criticised at the conference and there is the Israeli Foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni, announcing that Israel will be boycotting 'The World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance' that is to be held in Geneva in April, because she fears that Israel might be criticised. The first conference in Durban in 2001, after all, culminated in a resolution equating Zionism and racism ..... and back to my little scenario with Adolf fuming in a little corner and rembering that first ant-fascist conference, which ended with a declaration which equated national socialism with fascism.
Of course, it beats me that Israel has been asked to attend at all and to be honest such an invitation really is like inviting Benito and Adolf and the Generalisimo to an anti-fascist conference. Or did the apartheid regime get invitations to anti-apartheid confrences? A more poignant and important gesture, of course, would be for the
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to tell Israel to stay away from the conference.
