Joseph Kony

When it comes to killing it would appear that the Israelis have some competition down in Central/East Africa. You might have read my post on Joseph Kony and his 'Lord Resistance Army and how Joseph is being pursued by armies from the Congo, South Sudan and Uganda.(1) Well, there is nothing worse than a mad dog that is being hounded and the news coming out of the area is that Joseph and his "Christians" have been butchering the Acholis, the very people they claim to be acting for against Uganda's President, Yoweri Museveni,(2) and, according to the UN humanitarian agency OCHA, "the worst attack took place at Doruma, 25 miles from the Sudanese border, on Boxing Day, killing 89 people. Ugandan army officials and aid workers said dozens of the victims had been sheltering inside a Catholic church and were hacked to death with machetes."(3) Over four hundred have apparently been slaughtered in the latest massacres a figure that Israel hasn't quite reached in Gaza at the time of writing this. Kony's group by the way wants to rule Uganda according to the Ten Commandments and that shouldn't be too difficult for a man who has a direct line to God.(4) Establishing a little theocracy, being chosen by God, this nutter really would be cutting a dash in the Israel if he were Jewish. Anyway, he certainly has the credentials to be one of "Uncle Sam's" men in Africa and I am sure there is a place for him alongside another crazy "Christian", Laurent Nkunda and Nkunda's mentor Paul Kagame. Moreover, we shouldn't think that Kony's having worked with the Sudanese government in the past will necessarily prejudice his getting a place on the CIA's pay role after all they once supplied Osama bin Laden and Saadam Hussein with weapons.
