Western Values 1

The Indian government are talking about, at least 160 dead, however, with shooting still going on at the moment and with a clear picture of the final number of casualties still to emerge, that figure could be considerably higher. With five Jewish victims, at least two of whom are American citizens, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni believes that the terrorists singled out Jewish, Israeli targets and targets identified with the West, Americans and Britons.(1) Not really sure what she means there; did the terrorists single out an Israeli and a Jewish target and were there no Indians killed in the attacks? Livni then goes on to say, "Our world is under attack, it doesn't matter whether it happens in India or somewhere else," she added. "There are Islamic extremists who don't accept our existence or western values."(2)
Possibly somewhere in South Lebanon today a man, woman or child was waking up blind or mutilated, probably in Gaza a child was crying from hunger and maybe in the West Bank a youth was being beaten up on a whim at some checkpoint. Ms Livni, your "western values" are not my values and, perhaps, when the West wakens up to realise that your world of high walls and apartheid, humiliation and theft, murder and lies, cannot be "our world" and that that world is an affront to western civilisation there will be an end to the madness and an end to innocents everywhere being killed.
