Criminals

Well, we did have to wait until the Spanish actually got a hold of Pinochet but they did get a hold of him and the ex-dictator was confronted with the reality that he might be a war criminal and of course, he was and similary it might not be too far fetched that one day in the, perhaps, not too distant future George W Bush and some of his cronies might, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condeleezza Rice, Tony Blair etc. etc., just might, be indicted for war crimes. In the meantime, the, still, President of the United States of America, continues to furnish us with evidence that he might, naively, not even be aware of the fact that he is guilty of mass murder, pursuing an illegal war of aggression and other nasty, nasty things. It would appear that George doesn't really know what a crime is! Or how else can his rare posthumous pardon for Charles Winters who broke the law to supply aircraft to the Zionists in 1948 be interpretated.(1) Still, let us not be too harsh on George, he isn't, after all, setting a precedent here as the two men convicted with him in 1949 have already been pardoned; Herman Greenspun in 1961 by President John F Kennedy and Al Schwimmer in 2000 by Bill Clinton. Oh by the way, Charles got involved because his mate, Al Schwimmer, who was Jewish, was looking for help and what better way to help than to supply the emerging Zionist state with a couple of bombers. The beginnings of the IAF apparently and I am sure Charlie would be proud of how well they have come along since. Of course, Charlie is no longer around but his son Jim is and Jim, appears to be as proud as punch of his daddy saying, "My father was a very instrumental, important person in the history of the world, and I didn't realize that. It would make a great movie."(2) Yes, indeed, Jimmy it would, a really, really great movie, and with Steven Spielberg being one of the many people who wrote a letter to President Bush in support of a pardon,(3) you have even got the man to direct the film and we will have the little epilogue of brave IAF pilots, saluting a picture of Charlie, before getting into their planes to destroy the Egyptian Air Force before it can get off the ground during the "Seven Days War". Of course, we won't get to see any of the countless crimes commited by the IAF, such as those in the Lebanon in 2006 and has the world really forgotten Qana?
Finally, we can only speculate as to what would happen to any American citizen who tried to provide the Hezbollah or Iran with weapons and we might wonder if the "hope and change" man will follow in John, Bill and George's footsteps and pardon Jonathan Pollard, a former intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy, who pleaded guilty in 1986 to providing Israel with military secrets. Pollard is serving a life sentence in a U.S. prison. Whatever, America appears to be quite generous when it comes to certain criminals and George and his cronies can, no doubt, testify to that.
