38 killed and 72 injured in Moscow metro

They come from Dagestan, Ingushetia and Chechnya,  the Russians call them "black asses" and away from the killing fields in their native lands they are second class citizens in mother Russia. Over 100,000 died in the two wars in Chechnya alone and when a bomb explodes in the Moscow metro, killing 38 people and injuring 72,  the enemy is identified before the smoke has settled or the ambulances have arrived.  They are from the North Caucasus, they are 'Al Qaeda' terrorists, there will be sharper controls especially on the "black asses" and we might expect Moscow to start the chase for its very own  "bin Laden". The problem, the real problem, remains and Svetlana Gannushkina from the Russian human rights organization 'Memorial', tells us that "Russia does not even have a North Caucasus policy," she said. Certain measures are being taken "with the goal of salvaging the empire at any price, and even in some cases rebuilding it." With up to 300,000 dead men, women and children in Chechnya, with the oil wealth of this region, the evidence would seem to suggest that no lessons are needed from elsewhere, as Moscow goes on search of the "common enemy", "the enemy of all civilised peoples", radical Islam.

What an opportunity for Israel and there is Netanyahu sending his condolences to Dmitry Medvedev while condemning the attack and explaining how Israel identifies with the Russians, "as a country that is itself a target for terror." "We stand with you," he added, "united with the enlightened nations in the battle against the terror that threatens the entire human race, while Obama expresses his sympathy by saying that "the American people stand united with the people of Russia in opposition to violent extremism and "heinous" terrorist attacks. Yes, they are inventing their common monolithic enemy and with 100,000 dead in Chechnya, with the indiscriminate murder of men, women and children in Gaza along with a brutal occupation in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, the dead men, women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan, it really would be convenient for Washington, Moscow and Jerusalem if the "enlightened nations"were to stand together.

The indiscriminate murder of innocents in Moscow is indeed a heinious crime, as indeed is the indiscriminate murder of innocents anywhere. Who perpertrated this crime we still do not know. However, there are things we do know: we know who slaughtered innocent men, women and children in Gaza last year, we know whose policies are responsible for leaving over 100,000 dead in Chechnya and we do know who is responsible for the murdering and maiming in Afghanistan. Moreover, what we also know is that these people, these "enlightened nations", have more in common than that mythical monolith that would seem, at least according to Netanyahu and his friends in Washington, span everyone and everything from the mythical wahabbi bin Laden to the pious shia Nasrallah and from the shiite state of Iran to to the turbaned taliban in Afghanistan. The war is not against terrorism, it is against colonisation, it is against ethnic cleansing, it is against genoicide and it is against discrimination.
