The Pope condemns homosexuality and abortion

The man in a funny hat and a dress, wearing a model of a long haired hippy with nails through his hands and stuck to a cross has, once again, said his tuppence worth. This time at a shrine 120 kilometres north of Lisbon where, in 1917, three shepherd children reported seeing visions of a lady who, two thousands years before her remarkable reappearence in the land of the living, had given birth to a baby despite the fact that she had never had sex. Now, you might think that I am pulling your leg here but it gets  better and apparently the, "dead for almost two thousand years, lady" also told the boys three secrets which predicted the Second World War, the conversion of Russia to Christianity and the attempt on the life of John Paul II in 1981.

Of course, the man in the funny hat and the dress is not just any man; he is the Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Succesor of the Prince of Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Rome Province,  Sovereign of the State of Vatican City and Servant of Servants of God. He is, of course, his Holiness, his Holy Father, the one and only Pope Benedict the XVI. So when this guy speaks to 500,000, and when billions more of the mass deluded "faithful" elsewhere tune in to what he has to say, what he has to say has weight.

Therefore, when he condemns gay marriage and abortion as “among the most insidious and dangerous challenges” to society a lot of people are listening and a lot of people might rightly be worried. Something, which, of course, can only be indicative of us living in a sad, mad world and with war, poverty, death and destruction, here, there and everywhere, it is, indeed, a sad, mad world. Yes, this guy has got his priorities rather confused and you can even forget, about the visions of virgins, and Fatima, which some see as the Portuguese "Lourdes", is only one of a number of places where these virgins have been reported, but just consider for a second that here is a man, wearing a dress and a model of a long haired hippy stuck to a cross with nails through his hands, who is actually head of an institution which has tolerated paedopheliacs in its ranks since time immemorial, condemning abortion and homosexuality, while we have slaughter, starvation, poverty and genoicide all over the globe. Yes friends, it is indeed, a mad, mad world.

As they say - you couldn't make it up, could you?

well, you could but you would need an imagination more vivid than a Lewis Caroll, Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson and J.K.Rowling all rolled into one!
