Sixteen year old Palestinian boy shot in back

Today's 'New York Times' reports; " A 16-year-old Palestinian boy who had been throwing stones at Israeli cars passing his West Bank village near the city of Ramallah was shot dead on Thursday after an Israeli settler whose car was hit opened fire." Now, a second blink is needed here to note that the "car was hit" refers to the "throwing stones". No discourse analysis is required with 'Haaretz' on the other hand, no effort to spot any anaphoric reference, and we are informed; "Settlers opened fire and killed a Palestinian teenager who was throwing rocks at Israeli cars near the West Bank city of Ramallah late Thursday, according to Palestinian sources."Ah, are we getting closer to the truth here and could it be that four boys were throwing stones and some settlers opened fire?

Well, whatever, one settler, two settlers, three settlers, the fact is that someone opened fire at a boy who was throwing stones. Of course, this is not to deny that throwing stones can be dangerous. However, politics aside, and there is no mention of the fact that this illegal settler was driving close to a village which he has no right to be close to, the fact is that today a 16 year old Palestinian boy is dead. 'Haaretz' continues; "The body of 16-year-old Aysar Zaben was found after midnight with gunshot wounds to the back outside the village of Mazra'a al Sharqiya, located northwest of Ramallah and between the settlements of Shiloh and Ofra." Yes, a sixteen year old boy dead, with gunshot wounds in his back. Of course, we know what our whining Zionists would be screaming today, had a sixteen year old settler been found on the road with gunshot wounds in the back.
